Avocado and Black Sesame Sprinkle on Sourdough

  • 4 large slices of artisan bread, preferably sourdough, toasted or griddled
  • avocado oil, for drizzling
  • zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • chilli flakes to taste
  • black and white sesame seeds, poppy seeds or chia seeds (or a mixture)
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • seasoning


  1. Toast the bread or season, drizzle with a touch of oil and griddle, moving to leave criss-cross patterns on each side. Combine the lemon zest, chilli flakes and seeds with a little seasoning. Slice the avocados, squeeze over a little lemon juice to prevent oxidation. Lay the slices on the toast, mashing down slightly to cover the slices evenly. Sprinkle with the seed mixture, and serve.
