Thrilled to be one of the first 500 Ambassadors for Cornwall – this very special corner of the world is the land of my birth, the place I’m lucky enough to call home, and epically beautiful. Breathtaking beaches, magical moors, and wondrous woodland, to say nothing of warm and friendly people.
When it comes to my specialist subject though, Cornwall outdoes them all. Food. Glorious, scrumptious, nutritious food – fish, seafood, meat, vegetables, rapeseed oil, wine, cheese, fruit, and even tea and coffee. To add to all that natural bounty, artisan makers produce just about every kind of sweet, savoury, pickled, preserved and luxury treat possible for locals and the many tourists alike.
Of course, everyone has heard of the Cornish specialities – pasties, clotted cream teas, fairings, saffron buns, hevva cake, yarg cheese, mead and stargazy pie, for a start – but the host of growers and producers here, thriving through difficult times, are worth a huge shout out. As for Tamar Valley strawberries and Cornish asparagus – the best in the world, without a shadow of a doubt!
If you’re one of those producers, Cornwall celebrates you. If you’ve never visited, put us on the list, and prepare to be very well fed, physically, visually and spiritually by your time in our land of mystery, magick, beauty and fantastic food!
