Functional Food Assessment Training for Medical, Complementary, Fitness and Mental Health Professionals.
Health is holistic. As experts in our fields, we can go into all kinds of detail, supporting our clients in healing the issues they have presented to us with.
But what about the areas we know only a little about?
The areas that we know they are struggling with, that are contributing to their problems, that would really help our clients to fast track their recovery, but that we are not qualified to deal with.
Foundational aspects of a healthy body and a happy brain, like food, nutrition and diet, are integral to holistic health, and to being able to fully access health treatments or therapies.
Now the opportunity to be able to offer your clients something truly game-changing is here!
Become a Functional Food Coach supporting mental and physical health!
I’ve lost count of the times a health professional of my acquaintance has told that they have referred Mrs X or Mr Y to me to have their diet, nutrition and lifestyle assessed. These professionals know that what and how their clients are eating is damaging their health, and is affecting their ability to benefit fully from the treatment they are receiving.
Sometimes Mrs x or Mr Y will come to see me; sometimes they won’t; but every time their food or nutrition has been a factor, and something that is often relatively easy to change.
My mission has always been to help people to optimise their health and their life via optimising their daily eating. Some miss out because of their perception of what I do as a nutritionist:
- they are afraid I’ll tell them they can’t eat their favourite foods;
- they just do not feel they have the time or money to do it on top of other treatments;
- they don’t understand how simple, yet crucial, it is!
My expanded mission is training mental health, medical, complementary, and fitness professionals how to quickly and effectively assess their clients’ diet, encourage necessary changes in a non-intrusive way, and give clients the tools to easily make the changes they need to for optimal recovery and health via improved nutrient status.
You’ll train in physical and mental health targeted assessment and intervention to complement the arena that you practice in. Food choices, nutrition and diet are integral factors in both physical and mental health, as evidenced by a growing body of research. It’s also common sense in its purest form – our bodies and brains, and all their balance and functions, are created and supported by what and how we eat.
With nearly 25 years of practice experience, a range of training, and specialist knowledge in mental health nutrition, weight management, food addictions, gut disorders, auto-immune conditions, cancer recovery, and more, as well as being a qualified, experienced teacher, I’m uniquely placed to be able to train YOU in how to work with your clients’ diet and lifestyle alongside your area of expertise.
Learn how to assess their current diet, how it is contributing to their health issues, what other factors might be aggravating or triggering the root cause, and how to suggest easily achievable changes. You’ll also learn when a client does need further professional intervention to resolve root issues that will hold back their recovery or work with you.
I’m with you every step of the way, and supporting you throughout, so you will always have any advice or pointers that you need as you find your feet before and after certification, whether you train in both physical and mental health support or just in one area.
The full training takes approximately four months as a minimum, dependent on progress and case study submission, and incorporates a mix of these elements:
- online learning delivery of core modules to complete at your convenience;
- group training sessions via Zoom with your fellow trainee coaches to go over the online modules;
- 1-2-1 tutorials;
- developing and presenting case studies for practise and assessment;
- live practise demonstrations and study, recorded for use as required;
- an assessment exam;
- a mandatory practical assessment and certification weekend in the UK.
You’ll have access to training materials, resources, videos and recorded live sessions throughout via a student portal online.
Once certificated, you’ll have access to:
- a coach community;
- a range of additional food, nutrition, and health resources;
- done-for-you eating plans to give clients;
- access to me personally for advice and queries;
- regular CPD and updating sessions;
- live Q&A/supervision sessions that will be recorded.
To take either the physical or mental health training sectors on their own to suit your professional area of practice, contact me to discuss this option and reduced fees.
What do qualified Functional Food Coaches have to say?
Life Coach, Nutritional Therapist, and Facilitator
“I was really keen to take this training due to my passion for a holistic approach to mental health. I wanted to know more about how what we ate could affect how we feel, sleep and act. I feel I’ve learnt so much about the crucial elements of nutrition in managing stress, anxiety and depression. The fact that we can control our hormones and neurotransmitters through the food we put in our body is absolutely mind-blowing, especially when you understand the science behind it all which Jane makes so easy.
The resources, yearly licence and Jane’s fantastic teaching skills have left me not only confident but EXCITED to start working with people and their diets. Knowing and, more importantly, understanding how nutrition affects our mental and physical health, I can’t wait to get out and spread the word.
If you are looking for a more holistic approach to health that everyone can easily access I can not recommend this course enough.”
Psychotherapist, Counsellor, social prescribing advocate
“Jane’s passion as regards a holistic approach to health issues, together with her knowledge and experience around working with food and its benefits on mental health shone through in this really interesting and worthwhile course.. As a psychotherapist I will certainly be including what I have learned into my work with certain clients.”
